Bargaining Etiquette in Haiti

Bargaining is common in informal markets, street stalls, and with taxi drivers, but it should be done lightly and with a friendly tone rather than aggressive haggling. In shops with fixed prices, especially in Port-au-Prince and larger towns, the price is usually nonnegotiable, while at open-air markets a brief back-and-forth is expected and often ends with a small discount or an added item.
