Swearing Etiquette in Germany

Swearing is generally kept fairly casual and can be heard among friends, in bars, or in heated everyday conversation, but it is still expected to stay out of formal settings, customer service, and interactions with strangers. Germans may use blunt language more openly than some visitors expect, yet insulting someone directly or shouting obscenities in public can quickly be seen as rude and escalate a conflict.
