Gender Norms Etiquette in Germany

Public life in Germany is generally gender-equal and people expect women and men to be treated the same in work, conversation, and service settings, so avoid assuming traditional roles or making comments about who should lead, pay, or speak. Older generations and some families may still be more conventional in private, but in cities and professional settings it is normal to use inclusive language, respect personal boundaries, and not comment on someone’s appearance or relationship status.
