Smoking Etiquette in Eritrea

Smoking is generally tolerated in public, but you should avoid lighting up in enclosed shared spaces, government offices, and around elders or families unless you see others doing so. In Asmara and other towns, cafés and bars may have a more relaxed attitude, yet it is still polite to ask before smoking at a table or in a private home.
