Meat Etiquette in Eritrea

Meat is usually eaten on special occasions or when guests are being honored, while everyday meals often rely more on lentils, stews, and flatbread. In Eritrean homes and restaurants, beef, goat, lamb, or chicken may be served in dishes like tsebhi, and sharing from a common platter is normal, so it is polite to wait for the host to begin and to eat from your own side of the tray.
