Personal Space Etiquette in Cambodia

People in Cambodia generally stand and sit closer than many Western visitors expect, so a little physical proximity is normal in conversation, markets, and on public transport. Avoid stepping back abruptly or treating closeness as rude, but do give extra space in temples and when speaking with monks, elders, or people of higher status.
