Tipping is customary in Austria, but it is usually modest: people often round up the bill or add about 5–10% for good service in restaurants, cafés, taxis, and hair salons. In sit-down places, it is common to tell the server the total you want to pay rather than leaving cash on the table, and service charges are often already included in the price.
