Drinking Water Etiquette in Austria

Tap water is safe to drink throughout Austria, and locals commonly refill bottles from the tap at home, in hotels, and in many public places. In restaurants, asking for tap water is normal but not always free, and in mountain huts or rural areas you may still be offered bottled water or spring water instead.
