Gender Norms Etiquette in Zimbabwe

Public life in Zimbabwe is still fairly gendered, so travelers will notice that men are often expected to take the lead in conversation, bargaining, and formal introductions, while women may be treated more cautiously in conservative settings. In cities this is changing, but in rural areas and among older generations it is still common to see stronger expectations around modest dress, separate social roles, and deference to elders and male relatives.
