Recycling Etiquette in Uzbekistan

Recycling is still limited in everyday life in Uzbekistan, so travelers should not expect the kind of widespread sorting systems found in many European cities; in most places, waste is simply thrown into general bins unless a hotel, office, or newer shopping center has separate containers. In Tashkent and a few larger cities you may see informal collection of bottles, cardboard, or metal, but it is not yet a strong household habit, so if you want to recycle you usually need to look for a dedicated drop-off point rather than assuming curbside pickup.
