Tipping Etiquette in Syria

Tipping is not a fixed expectation in Syria, but rounding up the bill or leaving a small extra amount for porters, drivers, and restaurant staff is appreciated when service is good. In more casual places people may simply leave loose change, while in higher-end hotels or with private guides a modest tip is more common, especially because wages can be low and service charges are not always included.
