Recycling Etiquette in Syria

Recycling is not yet a strong everyday norm in Syria, so travelers should not expect the separate household sorting, curbside collection, or public recycling bins common in many other countries. In cities, waste is usually mixed together and informal recycling happens through scrap dealers and scavengers, while in some neighborhoods people may reuse bottles, bags, and containers out of practicality rather than through an organized municipal system.
