Tattoos are generally accepted in Russia, especially among younger people and in big cities, but visible body art can still draw cautious or negative reactions from older generations and more conservative settings. Prison-style tattoos carry strong associations with the criminal underworld, so designs that resemble them may be read very differently than in the West.
