Sustainability Etiquette in Russia

Sustainability is still more of a practical habit than a strong social expectation in Russia, so travelers should not assume widespread recycling, composting, or strict waste sorting outside major cities and newer apartment blocks. In Moscow and St. Petersburg you may see separate collection points and eco-friendly cafés, but in many places people still rely on mixed trash disposal and reuse items informally rather than following a highly organized green culture.
