Public life in Lebanon is generally inclusive and socially mixed, so travelers will see people of different religions, languages, and backgrounds sharing the same cafés, neighborhoods, and events without much formality about identity. At the same time, conversations about politics, sectarian affiliation, or the civil war can quickly become sensitive, so it is best to be respectful and avoid assuming that one community’s customs speak for everyone.
