Recycling Etiquette in Laos

Recycling is not yet a strong everyday habit in Laos, so travelers should not expect the same level of sorting bins, curbside collection, or deposit-return systems found in many Western countries. In cities like Vientiane, some hotels, supermarkets, and NGOs do separate plastics or cans, but outside those settings waste is often mixed together, so the practical norm is to reduce packaging and reuse items when possible rather than rely on formal recycling.
