Ask before photographing people, especially in rural areas, at markets, and around religious sites, because many Kyrgyz are comfortable with casual snapshots but dislike being singled out without permission. Military facilities, border posts, police, and some government buildings should not be photographed, and in places like
bazaars or during family gatherings it is polite to offer to share the picture afterward.
