Bargaining is common in
bazaars, taxi rides without meters, and when buying from street vendors, but it should stay friendly and modest rather than aggressive. In Bishkek and other cities, fixed prices are more common in shops and malls, while in rural markets a little back-and-forth is expected and often ends with a small discount or an extra item thrown in.
