Swearing Etiquette in Cuba

Swearing is fairly common in everyday Cuban speech, especially among friends, and strong language can be used playfully or as emphasis without automatically signaling hostility. Still, avoid directing profanity at strangers, officials, or older people, because what sounds casual in a conversation can quickly be taken as disrespectful in more formal or tense situations.
