Photography Etiquette in Congo

Always ask permission before photographing people, especially in villages, markets, or around traditional leaders, because many Congolese see unsolicited photos as intrusive or disrespectful. In some places you may also be expected to offer a small payment or tip for a portrait, and military sites, checkpoints, government buildings, and some bridges or ports are often off-limits.
