Smoking Etiquette in Burundi

Smoking is generally tolerated in public, but you should avoid lighting up in crowded places, near government buildings, and around elders or family gatherings unless others are clearly smoking too. In Bujumbura and other towns, people may smoke in bars or outdoors, yet it is still polite to ask before smoking in someone’s home or at a social event.
