Physical Touch Etiquette in Burundi
Physical touch is usually reserved for close family and friends, so keep greetings light and avoid casual hugging, back-slapping, or public displays of affection unless the other person clearly initiates them. In everyday interactions, a handshake is the safest norm, and among people who know each other well, a brief touch on the arm or shoulder may be acceptable, but more intimate contact is generally considered too familiar.
