Recycling Etiquette in Bulgaria

Recycling is expected in principle, but in everyday life many Bulgarians still sort waste only loosely, so a traveler should look for the colored bins and separate paper, plastic, glass, and metal when facilities are available. In Sofia and other larger cities the system is more visible and people are increasingly used to it, while in smaller towns or older apartment blocks you may find fewer bins and less consistent participation.
