People in Bulgaria usually stand and sit fairly close in conversation, and a light touch on the arm or shoulder can be normal among friends or when emphasizing a point. In public, however, avoid crowding strangers or staring too long, since people may seem reserved at first even though everyday interactions are often warmer and more direct once you know someone.
