People in Belize generally stand and sit closer than many North Americans or Europeans are used to, so a bit less personal space is normal in conversation, queues, and on crowded buses. In casual settings, friendly touch like a light pat on the shoulder or brief hand contact is usually fine, but step back if someone seems reserved or if you are in a more formal business setting.
