Use formal titles and surnames when first addressing someone, especially in business or with older people, and wait for them to invite you to use first names. Common respectful forms include "müəllim" for men and "xanım" for women, and in more traditional settings people may also use patronymics or honorifics rather than jumping straight to casual address.
