Personal Space Etiquette in Azerbaijan

People in Azerbaijan generally stand and sit fairly close in conversation, so a bit less personal space than in Northern Europe or North America is normal and not considered rude. Among friends and family, greetings often include handshakes, cheek kisses, or a hand over the heart, while in formal settings it is still polite to keep a respectful distance until the other person closes it.
