Swearing Etiquette in Afghanistan

Swearing is generally frowned upon in public in Afghanistan, especially around elders, women, and in mixed company, so travelers should keep their language restrained and avoid loud profanity or insults. In everyday conversation people may still use mild teasing or blunt expressions among close male friends, but openly cursing can be taken as disrespectful and may escalate tensions quickly.
