Always ask before photographing people, especially women, religious sites, and security personnel, because many Afghans consider unsolicited photos intrusive or disrespectful. In markets and villages, a polite request and a brief conversation often make people more comfortable, while some places may still refuse out of privacy, modesty, or safety concerns.
