Swearing Etiquette in Tajikistan

Swearing is generally frowned upon in public in Tajikistan, especially in front of elders, women, or in formal settings, where it can be taken as a sign of poor upbringing or disrespect. In everyday conversation people may still use mild slang among close friends, but strong profanity is best avoided because it can quickly escalate tension and is considered especially rude in conservative social settings.
