Recycling Etiquette in Suriname

Recycling is not yet a strong everyday norm in Suriname, so travelers should not expect the kind of widespread sorting, curbside pickup, or public recycling bins common in many larger cities. In Paramaribo and other urban areas, waste separation is slowly growing through private initiatives and community cleanups, but most households still treat trash as mixed waste and reuse bottles, containers, and bags informally when possible.
