Bargaining Etiquette in Suriname

Bargaining is common in informal markets, street stalls, and with independent taxi drivers, but prices in shops, supermarkets, and most restaurants are usually fixed. In Paramaribo’s markets and among small vendors, a friendly back-and-forth is normal and expected, yet it should stay polite and light rather than aggressive.
