Alcohol Etiquette in Suriname

Alcohol is widely available and socially accepted in Suriname, especially in bars, restaurants, and at celebrations, but public drunkenness and rowdy behavior are frowned on. In mixed communities you may also see people decline drinks for religious reasons, so it is polite to offer rather than insist and to drink moderately in more formal or family settings.
