Alcohol is widely accepted in Spain, and it is normal to have beer, wine, or
vermouth with meals, at
tapas bars, or during late-evening socializing. Public drunkenness is frowned on, and in many places—especially in tourist areas and city centers—there are local restrictions on street drinking and rowdy behavior.
