Dining Etiquette in South Africa

Meals are usually relaxed and social, and it is normal to wait for the host to start or to be invited to help yourself, especially at a braai. If you are invited to a home, bringing a small gift such as dessert, wine, or flowers is appreciated, and in more traditional settings you may be offered food generously and expected to accept at least a little as a sign of respect.
