Most Paraguayans identify as
Roman Catholic, so church festivals, saints’ days, and family rites like baptisms and
first communions are widely respected and often part of social life. Evangelical churches are also present, but in everyday settings religion is usually expressed in a fairly relaxed, private way, and visitors should dress modestly and be quiet in churches or during religious processions.
