Public displays of affection are generally kept very discreet in Morocco, so holding hands may be acceptable in some urban or tourist areas but kissing and hugging in public can draw unwanted attention. In more conservative settings, especially outside major cities or during Ramadan, couples should be noticeably reserved to respect local expectations of modesty.
