Bargaining Etiquette in Mali

Bargaining is normal in markets, with prices often expected to be negotiated for crafts, textiles, and souvenirs, but it should be done politely and with a smile rather than aggressively. In larger shops, supermarkets, and restaurants prices are usually fixed, while in informal stalls a light back-and-forth is part of the social exchange and can end with a small discount or an added extra.
