Recycling is not yet a strong everyday norm in the Maldives, so travelers should not expect the kind of sorted curbside collection common in many countries. In Malé and at larger resorts there may be separate bins or collection for plastics, glass, and cans, but on many islands waste is still handled through limited municipal pickup or transport to disposal sites, so it is best to minimize packaging and follow any local sorting instructions exactly.
