PDA Etiquette in Maldives

Public displays of affection are generally kept very discreet in the Maldives, especially on inhabited islands and in conservative local communities, so holding hands may be acceptable but kissing or hugging in public can draw unwanted attention. The norm is stricter than in resort areas, where visitors may see more relaxed behavior, but modest dress and restrained conduct are still expected outside private spaces.
