Dining Etiquette in Israel

Meals are often lively and communal, with generous sharing of dishes, direct conversation, and a relaxed pace, so it is normal to pass plates around and linger at the table. In many homes and restaurants, keeping kosher matters, so you may see separate meat and dairy menus, no pork or shellfish, and observance of the Sabbath can mean some places close early on Friday or do not open until after Saturday night.
