Arriving a little late is often tolerated in Indonesia, especially for social gatherings, but you should still aim to be on time for business meetings, official appointments, and anything involving older people or formal invitations. In practice, schedules can be flexible and people may use the phrase jam karet, or "rubber time," yet showing up promptly and apologizing if delayed is still the polite default.
