Gender Norms Etiquette in Vanuatu

Public life in Vanuatu is generally respectful and practical, with men and women both active in work and community life, but in some villages and chiefly settings men still speak first or take the lead in formal discussions. Dress modestly, especially in rural areas and churches, because women commonly wear a skirt or dress that covers the knees and men avoid going shirtless outside the beach or sports settings.
