Dining Etiquette in Vanuatu

Meals are usually relaxed and communal, so wait to be invited to start and expect food to be shared from common dishes rather than served in strict individual portions. In villages, it is polite to accept at least a little of what is offered, and on special occasions you may be served laplap, the traditional baked dish made from grated root crops and coconut milk.
