Swearing Etiquette in Solomon Islands

Public swearing is generally frowned upon in the Solomon Islands, especially in villages, churches, markets, and around elders, where it can be taken as rude or disrespectful. In everyday conversation people tend to keep language restrained and indirect, and stronger profanity is more likely to be used only among close friends in private settings.
