Tipping Etiquette in Sao Tome and Principe

Tipping is not expected in São Tomé and Príncipe, and in many cafés, small restaurants, and taxis the bill is simply rounded up or left as-is if service was ordinary. In nicer hotels or guided tours, a small extra amount is appreciated but still discretionary, reflecting the country’s relaxed service culture rather than a fixed tipping tradition.
