Photography Etiquette in Kazakhstan

Ask before photographing people, especially in rural areas, markets, and around older women or religious settings, because many Kazakhs consider an unsolicited photo request intrusive. It is usually fine to take pictures of landscapes, monuments, and public city scenes, but avoid photographing military sites, border areas, airports, and some government buildings.
