Physical Touch Etiquette in Greece

In Greece, physical touch is fairly common in everyday interaction, so friends and family may greet with cheek kisses, hugs, or a hand on the arm without it feeling overly intimate. Among new acquaintances and in formal settings, a handshake is still the safer default, but people generally stand closer and use more touch than in more reserved cultures.
