People in Greece generally stand and sit fairly close when talking, and a light touch on the arm or shoulder is normal among friends and can also happen in warm, polite conversation. Backing away too much can read as cold or unfriendly, though people still expect you to respect personal boundaries with strangers and in formal settings.
