Queueing Etiquette in France

People generally queue in an orderly line in France, especially in shops, bakeries, post offices, and at ticket counters, and trying to cut in is likely to draw sharp looks or a direct correction. In busy places the line may be looser than in some countries, but the expectation is still that you wait your turn and let the person ahead finish before stepping forward.
